of a simpler time;

27 Jun

we leave our gadgets behind
there wasn’t any need for handphones or cameras
all we needed was ourselves
and whatever that was spoken between us

we sat in the car, singing to songs on the radio
playing ‘i spy with my little brown eyes’
watching people going about their business
of just about a simpler time

the beach was our solitude
where i could gaze into your eyes
to see my future within you
and be safe from any harms

with us, there would be no surprises
but there is comfort
and that was enough

i learn that we can’t always get what we want
but we can be happy with what we have

i can be too compulsive, goal-driven, with my head over the clouds
and that’s why we fit together so perfectly, because you let my feet stand firmly on the ground
